C-CAT (Computerized Common Admission Test) is an entrance exam conducted by Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC). It serves as the gateway for admission into various Post Graduate Diploma programs offered by C-DAC institutes across India.
Why C-CAT?
Every year, a huge number of students graduate from colleges in India. As per the Ministry of Education, around 43 lakh students completed higher education in the academic year 2019–2020. Out of these, approximately 16.8 lakh students were from engineering and technology fields.
However, despite such large numbers, many graduates face difficulties in finding the right job. One of the main reasons is the gap between academic knowledge and industry requirements.
C-DAC helps bridge this gap by offering industry-focused training programs. These courses are designed to build practical skills and prepare students for real-world job roles within a short duration of about six months. Along with quality education, C-DAC also provides placement opportunities in leading companies, including MNCs and startups.
Many students who complete programs like PG-DAC go on to build strong careers in India and even abroad after gaining experience. For many engineering graduates, joining C-DAC becomes a valuable step toward a better career.
When is C-CAT Conducted?
C-CAT is conducted twice every year:
- December / January for February / March admissions
- June / July for August / September admissions
Admissions to all Post Graduate Diploma courses offered by C-DAC are done through this exam.
